Bernard "Barney" J. Schneider, 90, of Beattie, KS, died January 4, 2020 at Cambridge Place in Marysville. Visitation is Tuesday, January 7, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary. A rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday at St. Malachy's Catholic Church in Beattie. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 8 at St. Malachy's Catholic Church. Father Nathan Haverland will officiate. The pallbearers will be Jake Schneider, Josh Schneider, Jordan Schneider, Phillip Schneider, Jason Schneider, Jonathan Kickhaefer and John Reinert. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery north of Beattie. Barney was born October 22, 1929, on a farm north of Beattie, to Joseph Christopher and Vida “Gold” Enola (Hattan) Schneider. On August 21, 1950, he married Elaine O’Neil at St. Malachy’s Catholic Church. Barney was a lifelong farmer and stockman. He also worked at the Beattie Coop and managed the Beattie quarry for Bayer Construction for many years. He enjoyed Angus cattle, fishing and visiting with friends at the Beattie Café. Barney loved his wife and family. He was preceded in death by his parents; toddler son, Gary in 1958; daughter, Teresa Gentuso in 2018; sisters, Helen Vondenkamp, Wilma Mason, Mary Goodrich and Shirley McGeeney; and brothers, Rex, Mike, Pat and Dick Schneider. Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Elaine; five children, Nancy (Russell) Reinert, Hutchinson, KS, Sandi Smith, Lenexa, KS, Jay (Brenda) Schneider, Beattie, Dan (Kristy) Schneider, Longmont, CO, and Barb (Ken) Kickhaefer, Marysville; son-in-law, Vince Gentuso, Hot Springs Village, AR; sixteen grandchildren and an ever increasing number of great-grandchildren. A memorial fund has been established to St. Gregory's Catholic School or St. Malachy's Catholic Church. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
