Bernice S. Stohs, 99, of Wichita, KS, and formerly of Bremen, died July 4, 2020 at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita. Visitation was Wednesday, July 8, from 1 to 9 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 9 at Immanuel Lutheran Hermansberg Church, north of Bremen. Rev. Aaron T. Fenker, Sr., officiated. Music included "My Faith Looks up to Thee Jesus Christ, My Sure Defense" and "How Great Thou Art". The Schepmann Family sang "A Faithful Shepherd Is My Lord". The pallbearers were Dustin Minge, Darrin Minge, Dane Minge, Lyle Stohs, Troy Schepmann and Kirk Schepmann. The honorary pallbearers were Mike Lestishen, Jacob Lestishen, Ian Aber, Jon Puls, Andre Parris and Zachary Puls. Burial was in the church cemetery. Bernice was born December 13, 1920 to Fred and Christina (Kruse) Prell. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Bernice attended South School at Bremen and graduated from the Capitol Beauty School in Omaha, NE in 1940. She worked in Wamego until the war broke out and then returned home to help with the family business. On April 6, 1947, she married Waldemar P. Stohs and they were blessed with two daughters, Linda and Lori. Bernice spent her life as a homemaker and helping on the family farm. She loved gardening, flowers, playing cards with family and friends, sewing and quilting. Bernice was a member of LWML and Ladies Society of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She sang in the church choir for many years and taught three and four-year old’s in Sunday School for 23 years. Was a volunteer for RSVP and the Braille Center. She enjoyed being a member of the Bremen Social Club. Throughout her life, Bremen was always her home, even after moving to Wichita in 2011, to live with her daughter. Bernice was a kind and caring person, who always put the needs of others first. She loved a long full life and will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wally on July 29, 1995; brothers, Frederick (Butch) Prell, Raymond Prell and Clifford Prell; sister, Irene; and son-in-law, Bill Puls. Survivors include her daughters, Linda Puls, Wichita, and Lori (Mike) Lestishen, Lone Tree, CO; two grandchildren, Jacob (Kaelyn Purfurst) Lestishen, Thornton, CO, and Jenae (Ian) Aber, League City, TX; great grandchild, Lily Sophia Aber; two step-grandchildren, Jon (Kathy) Puls and Angela (Andre) Parris both of Wichita; three step great grandchildren, Zachary and Jaime Puls and Kyra Parris; and many loving nieces, nephews and friends. A memorial fund is established to Immanuel Lutheran Church or the Lutheran Hour. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary. Bernice Stohs funeral
