Betty Peterson, 87, of Grandview, MO, and formerly of Home, KS, died November 25, 2020 at her home. Visitation will be Thursday, December 3, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, at the Home Cemetery, north of Home. Betty Jean was born on December 6, 1932 near Home, KS, to Chester and Irene (Toedter) Johnson. In 1950, she graduated from Marysville High School. On June 24, 1951, she married Frank Peterson at Friedens Lutheran Church. After their marriage Frank was drafted in the U.S. Army. They lived in North Carolina before returning to Home after his discharge. Betty was a homemaker and raised her family there. She enjoyed cooking and fried chicken was a favorite. Betty was a member of Friedens Lutheran Church, served on the church council and was the church organist for many, many years. She belonged to the Moose Lodge and was a 4-H Leader in sewing. On Wednesdays, she would quilt at the church and liked to travel. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Frank in 2002; and infant brother, Charles Johnson. Her survivors include, children, Gary (Deb) Peterson, Belton, MO, and Linda (Dennis) Spruell, Grandview, MO; three grandchildren, four great grandchildren; and a sister, Shirley Anderson.
