Brian David Mauden, 79, died September 2, 2020 in Marysville. He was born September 10, 1940 in Tacoma, WA to Waldemar and Margaret (Herd) Mauden, the middle of seven brothers. Following high school, Brian enlisted in the Air Force for eleven years before moving to the Air National Guard, where he retired as a colonel Brian met and married Gisela Vaubel on September 11, 1971 in Lubbock, TX while he was stationed at Reese Air Force Base. Together with their daughters, Evelyn and Renee, they moved to Wichita, where Brian was stationed at McConnell Air Force Base. Wichita then became their home, even though Brian and Gigi spent the next twenty years traveling through his military service that included four years at the pentagon and five years in Germany. Retirement in 1992 brought them home where they enjoyed WSU Sports, traveling the US and mostly spending time with family and friends. Despite retiring, Brian stayed busy with many volunteer activities including SCORE, the Rotary, and contributing to the Plane of Mercy for the Flying Fez, Midian Shrine Temple. Brian will be laid to rest in Burlington, WA with his wife at a later date. He is survived by daughters, Evelyn Vaubel and Renee (Vaubel) Casper; two brothers, Ron (Nadeen) Mauden and Galen (Patty) Mauden; grandchildren, Paula (Darren) Schroeder of Marysville, Christopher Morton, Rachel (Bobby) Winter, Kristine (Josh) Richmeier, Sedna Casper, and Chelsea Casper; 15 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
