Bryant Lee Shanek, 51, died Saturday, January 22, 2022 at his home in Marysville. A private family service will take place. Bryant was born on April 7, 1970 in Beatrice, NE to Robert Shanek and Sonia (Sutton) Small. He graduated from Marysville High School. Bryant worked at Hardees for several years and worked as a mechanic, which was his passion. He loved anything to do with mechanics and old cars. He cherished his 1/16 scale steel replica cars. He became a brilliant artist while fighting cancer, gifting many of his art pieces to family. Bryant became a caregiver for his mother Sonia and for the Dr. Kaplan family in Lincoln, NE. He was a trusted and valued friend to all. He was very spiritual and was an active member of the Christian Church, wherever he lived. Later in life, he watched lots of Christian television and enjoyed his bible given to him by his niece, Megan King. Family get togethers, big or small, and holidays with big meals were favorites. He always made sure he cleared his plate and was always willing to help at any time. Bryant was a die-hard Minnesota Vikings fan, but was converting to the Chiefs, after attending a few games with his brother, Tracy. Bryant was always optimistic and happy go lucky. He had a contagious laugh, and he will be missed by all. Preceding him in death was his mother, Sonia; and his grandparents, Richard “Dick” Sutton and Peggy Sutton. Survivors include his siblings, Tracy Small, Marysville, Richard Small and Tami Krontz both of Lincoln, NE; special friend, Debbie Kaplan, Colorado; and nieces and nephews. A memorial fund is established and will be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
