Caroline M. Etherton, 88, Marysville, died Sunday, November 3, 2019 at Firethorn Assisted Living Center, Lincoln, NE. Visitation is from noon until 5 p.m., Thursday, November 14, 2019 at Kinsley Mortuary, Marysville. A rosary service will be at 7 p.m., Thursday at St. Gregory’s Catholic Church, Marysville. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m., Friday, November 15, at St. Gregory’s Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Gregory’s Catholic Cemetery. Caroline was born July 18, 1931 to Clifford and Ella (Sobotka) Meyer in Beatrice, NE., the oldest of seven children. After graduating from St. Joseph’s Catholic High School in 1949, she left the family farm west of Beatrice and attended college at Mount Saint Scholastica in Atchinson, KS. Her next stop was working in Lincoln, NE. On May 4, 1953, she married John Etherton, and they raised five children. Her faith was such an important part of her life. Caroline and John were active members of St. Gregory’s Catholic Church. Besides raising her family. Caroline worked as a bookkeeper for Etherton Farm Equipment. Later in life, she worked in the office of Dr. Leo Bongers. To keep busy during retirement, after John passed away, she worked for the Pony Express Museum. Caroline so enjoyed that job, as it gave her the opportunity to meet and visit with many people and share her enjoyment of history with them. Family was an important part of Caroline’s life, one of her passions was supporting her kids and grandkids at their many sporting events and activities. She loved being around people and helping others, her generous heart and giving nature blessed so many lives. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, John; brothers, Lawrence Meyer and Harold Meyer; daughter-in-law, Joleen (Sejlkora) Etherton; and son-in-law, Lee Pressler. Survivors include children, Kenneth (Michelle) Etherton, Topeka, David (Joleen) Etherton, Lincoln, NE, Marcia (Bob) Petterson, Ft. Morgan, CO, Jean (Lee) Pressler, Adams, NE and Gary Etherton, Lincoln, NE; sisters, Donna Pacha, Marysville, Marguerite Stearns, Hudson, MA, Barbara Reilly, Grand Island, NE; brother, Gerald Meyer, Beatrice, NE; and grandchildren and great grandchildren. A memorial fund is established and will be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary, Marysville.
