Chester Clayton Fincham, Sr., 90, of Frankfort, KS, passed away August 13, 2019 at the Frankfort Community Care Home. Visitation was Thursday, August 15, from noon to 8 p.m. at Padden Funeral Chapel in Frankfort. The family received friends 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 16 at the United Methodist Church in Frankfort. Rev. Jim Akins and Rev. Dan Lord officiated. Musicians were Jodi Turnbull, Kim Stewart, Micah Kee and Clara Kee. Songs were “Wind Beneath My Wings” and “Here I Am Lord.” Honorary pallbearers were Jerry Parthemer, Joe Parthemer, Don Parthemer, Dan Wullschleger, Ralph Burton, Steve Morton, Fred Fincham, Steve Keating, Doug Plegge, Pat Horigan, Jim Price, Dennis Roeder, Dennis Wanklyn, Joe Lauer, David Wanklyn, Chuck Wullschleger, Kenny Burton and Ed Rettig. Burial will be in Frankfort City Cemetery. Chester was born March 16, 1929, three miles North of Winifred, KS, to Clayton William and Pearl Thompson Fincham. Chester attended Grimes and Burnside Grade Schools and graduated from Frankfort High School in 1947. After high school Chester worked at Western Electric in Kansas City. He was hired by Union Pacific Railroad as a fireman in August 1950. In 1951, Chester was drafted into the Army, he was shipped to Japan for eight months. On July 2nd, 1952, Chester was called for duty for the 40th Infantry Division located on Heartbreak Ridge for 9 months. Home from the Korean Conflict in 1953, Chester returned to work on the UPRR as a Fireman. He advanced to a hostler and then to an engineer, where he served until his retirement in 1992. Chester was married to Donna Mae Lord and they had three children: Linda, Chet, Jr., and Donna Mae. Chester enjoyed his small farming and cattle operation. Survivors include his daughter, Linda, Frankfort; son Chet (Mary Ann), Frankfort; grandsons Travis (Jami), Collierville, TN, Anthony (Michelle), Westmoreland, KS; three great-grandchildren, Annistyn, Henry and Holland Fincham; sister, Edith (Herschel) Mentgen, Frankfort; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna; daughter, Donna Mae; parents, Clayton and Pearl Fincham; four brothers, Merlin, James Lynn, Gerald and Arthur Fincham; and sister, Vera Calhoun.
