Dave E. Stohs, 72, of Bremen, KS, died June 19, 2021, at Bryan Medical Center East in Lincoln, NE. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 23, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 26 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, north of Bremen. Rev. Aaron T. Fenker, Sr., will officiate. Kathy Pralle will play the organ while the congregation sings “Just as I Am”, “How Great Thou Art” and “God’s Own Child, I Gladly See It”. The honorary pallbearers will be Porter Sparks, Lucas Stohs, Chris Stohs, Robert Stohs, Dennis Iles and Jim Bruna. Dave was born November 10, 1948, at Marysville, KS, son of Melvin and Melba (Duensing) Stohs. He grew up near Bremen and graduated from Marysville High School in 1966. He served in the Army National Guard and was called up to serve one year in Vietnam. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Bremen and farmed with his family. On March 26, 1978, he married Debra A. Christy at Agra, KS. They made their home near Bremen. Dave was a lifelong farmer. Throughout his career he also worked at Mueller Sand & Gravel, did custom baling, and worked at Temps Disposal for 20 years. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and served the church faithfully in many roles. Dave loved to socialize and was very good at it. He enjoyed visiting with neighbors and friends whether it was along the road or at the Pony where he would go more than once per day and drink coffee. His grandchildren were extremely special to him, and he loved attending their activities. Dave was also happy his nephew, Chris Stohs, was taking over more of his farming and looked forward to doing less and less. He was preceded in death by his father; and brother-in-law, Ralph Anderson. Survivors include his wife, Deb; mother, Melba Stohs, Marysville; four children, Michel (Carolina) Stohs, Simpsonville, SC, Jeni (Zach) Sparks, Marysville, Andrea Stohs, Portland, OR, and Jamie Rhodes, Bremen; five grandchildren, Porter Sparks, Emma Sparks, Kennedy Sparks, Layton Sparks and Lucas Stohs; two brothers, Gordon (Alice) Stohs, Wamego, KS, and Jerry (Marsha) Stohs, Bremen; and two sisters, Susan Anderson, Topeka, KS, and Ruth (Dale) Critchfield, Cheyenne, WY.
