Delbert F. Schreiner

Delbert Frederick Schreiner, 95, of Frankfort, Kan., entered eternal rest on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at the Frankfort Community Care Home.Visitation was Saturday, June 23, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Padden Funeral Chapel in Frankfort.  The family received friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.A celebration of life was 12:00 noon on Sunday, June 24, 2018 at the Frankfort American Legion. Burial followed at 3:00 p.m. in Mt. Hope Cemetery, south of Frankfort.Delbert was the fourth of six children born to William F. and Veda (Shope) Schreiner on October 3, 1922 in Marshall County, Kan. He attended rural Brown School #66 until completion of 8th grade in 1935-36.In the fall of 1942, he was drafted into the U.S. Army, where he became a tank commander, serving in Sicily, Normandy, Ardennes Rhineland, Northern France, and Central Europe.  Corporal Schreiner was awarded the Bronze Star and was honorably discharged in November of 1945.On May 27, 1955, he married Mary Ellen Wapp. She preceded him in death on January 4, 1982. Delbert enjoyed farming and then was employed at the Marshall County Landfill. For several years after that he worked as a small engine repairman at Rex’s Auto Supply.Survivors include his four sons, Robert James Schreiner and wife, Dorothy, John William Schreiner and wife, Lois, Delbert Alan Schreiner and wife, Debbie, and Charles Edward Schreiner, all of Frankfort; sister, Elizabeth Budenbender, Frankfort; 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary; 3 brothers, William, David and Orville; and sister, Twyla Davis.Memorial contributions will be designated later and can be sent in care of Padden Funeral Chapel in Frankfort.
