Donald W. Meyer, 76, of Hanover, KS, died December 13, 2019 at the Hanover Hospital. Visitation was Sunday, December 15, from noon until 8 p.m. at the Hanover Mortuary in Hanover.  The family received friends from 3 to 5 p.m. A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 16 at Trinity Lutheran Church, northeast of Hanover.  Rev. Rodney Fritz officiated. Arlyce Klipp played the organ while the congregation sang "How Great Thou Art", "What a Friend We Have in Jesus", and "Precious Lord, Take My Hand". The pallbearers were Mark Brei, Paul Brei, Phillip Brei, Gary Wienck, Keith Kauffeld, and Randy Wieters.  Burial was in the church cemetery. Donnie was born February 16, 1943, on the family farm near Hanover to Ernst and Bertha (Niemann) Meyer.He was Baptized into the Christian Faith on February 28, 1943 at his home by the Rev. Theo. Kauffeld. His sponsors were Walter Loemker, Paul Schotte and Walter Niemann. He was Confirmed in that faith on April 28, 1957 at Trinity by the Rev. R.E. Hasz. Donnie graduated from the 8th grade at Trinity Lutheran School. He was a life-long member of Trinity as well as a member of The Horseshoe Farmer’s Band since the age of 18. He truly loved farming, being able to go out to the field and work the land. He loved fishing, baseball, his dog Sally and was ever faithful in his care and love for his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Meyer; sister, Ernetta Kauffeld; and nephew, Kevin Kauffeld. Survivors include his sisters, Rosella (Clarence) Brei, Fremont, NE, and Lorna (Don) Wienck, Hanover; sister-in-law, Shirley (Jerry) McLaughlin, Centralia, KS; brother-in-law, Omar (Ione) Kauffeld, Rogers, MO; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
