Dorothy Lorrene Medearis, 98, Frankfort, died Monday, January 21, 2019 at the Frankfort Care Home, Frankfort. Funeral service was 10:30 a.m., Friday, January 25, 2019 at the United Methodist Church, Frankfort. Visitation was one hour prior to the service at the church. Rev. Jim Akins officiated. Janet Plegge was organist and the congregation sang, “His Eye is on the Sparrow,” “Amazing Grace” and “The Old Rugged Cross.” Pallbearers were Jerry Parthemer, Doug Plegge, Stan Mueller, Rod Stewart, Kenny Feldhausen and Gary Musil. Burial was in Frankfort City Cemetery. Dorothy was born on December 23, 1920 on Terminal Island, San Pedro, CA to Max Leonard and Alice M. (Grier) Holmn. She graduated in 1939 from Garfield High School in Los Angeles and worked for Betty Brooks Factory as a seamstress. On September 3, 1942, she married Ross C. Leffler at Camp Atterbury, IN. The had three children, Susan, Stephen and Sandra. They later divorced. Dorothy worked at the Monterey Park Post Office, in California, retiring after twenty years. On March 20, 1976, she married Jim Medearis in Las Vegas. Dorothy was a member of the United Methodist Church, Frankfort. She enjoyed camping trips with her family, traveling, reading and working puzzles. Preceding her in death were her parents; and sisters, Genevieve Holmn, Alice Stites, Thelma Holmn. Survivors are her husband, James Medearis; daughters, Susan Hickey, Sandra Leffler, both of Frankfort; son, Stephen Leffler, Plano, TX; four grandchildren and one great grandchild.
