Dorothy Mae Rombeck, 82, of Home, KS, died January 9, 2023, at Cambridge Place in Marysville. Visitation was Wednesday, January 11, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 12, at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Marysville. Burial was in the Marysville City Cemetery. Dorothy Mae Rombeck, 82, of Home, KS, died January 9, 2023, at Cambridge Place in Marysville. On August 26, 1940, Dorothy was born to Wilbur and Hilda (Minge) Roever at Sabetha, KS. She was baptized on September 22, 1940 and confirmed in April 1953. In 1958, she graduated from Beattie High School. As a young girl the family moved to Home, KS. Her father died when she was eighteen. After his early death, she partnered with her mother and brother to continue the family farming operation. Dorothy was united in marriage to Alfred Rombeck on April 18, 1960, at Zion Lutheran Church in Hanover. This union was blessed with four children, Jim, Steve, Rob and Deb. Alfred and Dorothy made their home southwest of Beattie. Dorothy worked for the Hanover Locker, at several retail stores, Marshall Co. Rural Water, as an office manager for 20 years, and with Al as bank couriers. She was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church and taught Sunday school and vacation bible school. Spending time with her family and friends was important to her. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the greatest of all. She loved attending ball games, doing woodworking projects with Al and creating crafts. Dorothy always had balloons for the grandchildren and loved taking family vacations, to Bella Vista, AR and to the Sidney Iowa Rodeo. She was the best cook in the county and could whip up a huge meal for a crowd in nothing flat unannounced. She loved butterflies and old westerns, especially anything with John Wayne. Preceding her in death were her parents; brother, Darrel Roever; son-in-law, Jeff Holle; and sister-in-law, DeAnna Rombeck. Survivors include her husband, Alfred; children, Jim (Becky) Rombeck, Lyons; Steve (Becky) Rombeck, Beattie, Rob (Dana) Rombeck, Beattie and Deb (Mike) Griffee, Beattie; sister-in-law, Elaine Roever, Home; brother-in-law, Mel (Sherry) Rombeck, Bethany, MO; and nine grandchildren, Justin Rombeck, Andy Rombeck, Alex Rombeck, Austin Rombeck, Brandon Griffee, Jessica Dabney, Jacey Pacha, Elizabeth Scheele and Erin Pralle; and twenty great grandchildren, Madison and Carly Rombeck, Aubrie and Alison Rombeck, Harper, and Brecken Dabney, Brielle, Emmitt and Maya Pacha, Renae, Elijah, Natalie, Clayton and Theodore Rombeck, Memphis, Emalyn, Emersyn, Maverick and Elsey Rombeck and Abigail Mae Griffee. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
