Edna Christener

Edna P. Christener, 96, of Frankfort, Kan., died March 10, 2018 at the Frankfort Community Care Home.Visitation was Tuesday, March 13, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Padden Funeral Chapel in Frankfort. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m.A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 14 at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Marysville. Rev. Philip Miller officiated. Carol Wright played the organ while the congregation sang “Amazing Grace”, “How Great Thou Art” and “Beautiful Savior”.The pallbearers were Frank Berg, Doug Plegge, Joe Parthemer, Chet Fincham, Jr., Levon Colvin and Brian Smith.Burial was in the Marysville City Cemetery.Edna was born August 28, 1921 near Blaine, Kan., daughter of Charles and Pauline (Berg) Fischer. She attended the Berg School. She was a farm wife and mother.On October 14, 1953, she married Alvin Christener at Wheaton, Kan. They had one son, Robert. Together they lived on the family farm near Frankfort.Edna was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Marysville and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She also enjoyed cooking rolls and pies for others.She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alvin on January 19, 2014; and three brothers, Walter "Julius", Argyle and Herbert Berg.Survivors include her son, Robert (Janet) Christener, Frankfort; three grandchildren, Donnie (Casey) Christener, Chicago, Ill., Mike (Alissa) Christener, Frankfort, and Melissa (Randy) Huninghake, Frankfort; three grandchildren and four great grandchildren.A memorial fund has been established and will be designated later.
