Erna A. Weinman Cox Zink, 95, of Marysville, KS, formally of Phillipsburg, KS, passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at Community Memorial Healthcare, Marysville. Visitation is Friday, November 1, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, November 2, 2019 at Marysville Christian Fellowship, Marysville, KS. Pastor Brad Wicks will officiate. Music will be “How Great Thy Art”, “Amazing Grace” and “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot” led by Paula Landoll-Smith and accompanied by Rosemary Forst. Pallbearers are Kerry Burt, Logan Burt, Sabrina Lewis, Erica Lewis, Patrick Smith and Peyton Smith. Honorary Pallbearers are Calista Speake, Aubrey Miller, LiCinda Hick, Jesse Howell, Dustin Howell, Clinton Capps, Cory Capps, Sandra Wyrill, James Atchison and Matt Atchison. They are all Erna's great grandchildren. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m., Saturday in the Fairview Cemetery, Phillipsburg, KS. Pastor John Lewis, grandson in-law, will officiate. Erna was born on January 3, 1924 on a farm north of Stuttgart, KS to Johann George Weinman and Katherina Wagner Weinman. She was baptized at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Stuttgart, KS, on February 3, 1924 and confirmed on June 13, 1937. She went to Iowa Union Country School through the 8th grade. After graduation, she worked at several homes in and around Phillipsburg, taking care of children and helping with housework during harvest. On May 29, 1942 she married Loyd W. Cox. They were living in Wichita, KS where two daughters, Charline and Janice (Jan), were born. They moved back to Phillipsburg in 1946. Erna was a homemaker until both girls were out of school. She later worked at Smith's Bakery and Lumpkin's Grocery Store until she retired. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Phillipsburg. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, traveling and being with family. Her husband, Loyd, passed away in 1974. She married Edward John Zink in 1979. He passed away in 2010. In October, 2011 she moved to Marysville, KS to be close to her daughter, Jan. She made many friends at the Senior Center, ate lunch there and played pinochle several times a week. She loved her apartment and Marysville quickly became home. Erna faithfully attended church with her daughter at Marysville Christian Fellowship, where she was lovingly called Miss Erna. Survivors include her daughter, Janice (Jan) Smith, Marysville; 6 grandchildren, Krystal (John) Lewis, Coldwater, KS, Kerry (Paula) Smith, Marysville, KS, Sherry (Galen) Johnson, McPherson, KS, Charolette Isslar, Atkinson, NE, Rick (Rolanda) Capps, and Roberta (Jim) Atchison both of Kirwin, KS. 4 step-daughters Margaret (Mick) Lafferty, Viola, KS, Mary (Rob) Nance, Wichita, KS, Kathleen (Timm) Morrison, Boulder, CO, Nancy (Robin) Donahey, Lawrence, KS. 16 great grandchildren, and 21 great-great grandchildren. 8 step-grandchildren and 8 step-great grandchildren. Son-in-law, Robert Capps, Kirwin, KS and sister-in-law, Kathleen Harlowe, Salina, KS also survive. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Loyd, daughter Charline Capps, sister and husband, Edna and Ted Krafft, brother and wife Ehrhart and Elizabeth Weinman, nephew David Weinman, son-in-law Lyle Smith and husband Edward John Zink. A memorial fund has been established to Marysville Christian Fellowship.  Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
