Esther McMahon, 89, formerly of Beattie, KS, died May 13, 2021 at Stormont Vail in Topeka. Visitation will be Monday, May 17 from noon to 9 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 18 at St. Malachy's Catholic Church in Beattie. A rosary vigil service will be held that morning before the funeral at 10:00 a.m. Father Quentin Schmitz will officiate. The pallbearers will be Danny Tangeman, Dennis Lake, Pat Tangeman, Tony Tangeman, Jerry Broxterman and Paul Broxterman. Burial will be at St. Patrick's Cemetery. Esther was born October 5, 1931 at St. Benedict, KS, to Frank and Agnes (Wessel) Tangeman. On July 2, 1956, she married Patrick McMahon at Washington, KS. Esther ran a grocery store in Beattie for 2 years after her marriage. She later worked as an X-Ray Tech at the Washington and Marysville hospitals. She was a member of St. Malachy’s Catholic Church. Esther quilted and crocheted. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Patrick; sister, Alice Wehmer; and brothers, Emmett, Cletis, Cyril, Frankie and Leroy. Survivors include her sisters, Eileen (Don) Lake, Topeka, and Rita (Charles) Broxterman, Frankfort. A memorial fund is established and will be designated later.
