Fay K. Downie

Fay K. Downie, 75, of Marysville, KS, died June 21, 2022 at Cambridge Place. Visitation was Monday, June 27, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary. The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. A funeral service was held at 10 a.m., on Tuesday, June 28, at the Church of Christ in Marysville. The pallbearers were Darrin Svoboda, Richard Turner, Kelly Roberts, Raymond Oehm Jr., Jim Oehm and Melvin Haller Jr. Honorary pallbearers were Ray Oehm Sr. and Rodger Lane Sr. Burial was in the Marysville City Cemetery. Fay was born March 7, 1947 in Vermillion, KS, to Vern Dale and Mary (Montague) Ackerman. On December 3, 1977, Fay was married to Charles Downie at the United Methodist Church in Oketo, KS. For many years of her life she was a CNA in Frankfort, Marysville and Holton. She was also a housekeeper at Surf Motel and Thunderbird Motel in Marysville. Later in life she helped her daughter Mary with her daycare business. Fay loved Elvis Presley, watching Cardinal birds, and anything red. Survivors include her daughter, Mary (Ryan) Haller of Marysville; and many nieces and nephews She is preceded in death by her parents, Vern Dale and Mary Ackerman; husband, Charles Downie; siblings, Eldon “Buck” Ackerman, Pauline White, Leo Ackerman and Delbert Ackerman.
