Fern Mae Obermeyer, 95, Marysville, KS, died March 15, 2021 at Cambridge Place in Marysville. A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday March 20, at the Evangelical United Church of Christ in Marysville. A visitation was held an hour before the funeral service at the church. Rev. Julie Shields officiated. Burial will be in the Marysville City Cemetery at a later date. Fern Mae Luehring was born July 19, 1925 at home in Hanover, Kansas to William O. and Mary Drumeller Luehring. She attended school in Hanover, graduating top in her class in 1943. While in High School she played the French Horn in the band and the violin in the orchestra. After High School, Fern began working as a bookkeeper at Perry Packing Company in Hanover. On September 11, 1949 Fern married Dale Obermeyer at the Evangelical Church in Hanover. They resided on various farms in Marshall County. To this union three children were born: Mary Lou, Dean Dale and Mark Russell. Fern worked at Seymour Foods in Marysville from 1955 to 1958. She was a farmer's wife helping her husband in the field and milking cows. She later worked at Campbell Soup Co. in Tecumseh, NE, Beatrice State Developmental Center and being the second truck driver with her husband driving cross country for 5 years. They later lived in Summerfield before moving to Marysville in 1989. Fern was a member of EUCC church in Marysville and attended the Presbyterian Church in Summerfield when in Summerfield. Fern taught Sunday School, was a member of the choir, the bell choir and played her violin at church and at Cambridge Place and Country Place. She also belonged to Friendship Circle, EHU, Seneca Quilt Lovers Guild, she was the sewing and knitting leader for the Balderson Boosters 4-H club; she served as treasurer for the EUCC Women's Fellowship, the EUCC Quilter and assistant treasurer for the church. Fern was a volunteer with RSVP since 1989. Fern liked to read, play and listen to music, travel coast to coast with her husband and make quilts for her family and quilting at church. She raised a large garden and canned the food from the garden and fruit trees. Fern also enjoyed attending all of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren's school and sports activities. Fern is survived by her children, Mary Lou Morrison, Liberty, NE, Dean & Denise Obermeyer, Los Alamos, NM, and Mark & Carol Obermeyer, Waterville; grandchildren, Jeff & April Morrison, Rachell Morrison & Dan Simmons, Kathy & Ross Tyler, Lori Obermeyer & Ruben Sende, Dane & Molly Obermeyer, Dion Obermeyer & Gabby Olson, Diandra & Lucas Lawson, Jason & Jenn Obermeyer, Nathan & Dana Obermeyer, Melanie & Darren Nemechek; great grandchildren, David & Alyssa Morrison, Josh Morrison, Amber Morrison, Jennifer Morrison, Vince Tyler, Caetano Sende, Xolani Sende, Travis Obermeyer, Lucas Obermeyer, Dalton Obermeyer, Mayson Obermeyer, Zander Obermeyer, Cambree Obermeyer, Aiden Nemechek, Hudson Nemechek, Osric Nemechek, Baby Nemechek due this month; brother-in-law Kent Obermeyer; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Fern was preceded in death by her parents, William & Mary Luehring; her husband Dale in 2013; her brothers, Wilbur Luehring, Howard & Rita Luehring, James & Ramona Luehring; sisters-in-law LoAllen Obermeyer and Grace Luehring; and son-in-law Richard Morrison.
