Gene R. Wolfe, 94, of Frankfort, KS, died February 14, 2025, at the Hanover Hospital in Hanover, KS.

Visitation was on Monday, February 24, from 5:00-6:30 p.m. at Padden Funeral Chapel in Frankfort. The family was present.

A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 25, at the First Presbyterian Church in Frankfort. Pastor Shannon Borgman officiated.  Skip McMillen was the organist and music included "Great Is Thy Faithfulness", "Amazing Grace", and "For All the Saints."

Burial followed in the Frankfort Cemetery with military honors presented by the Sons of the American Legion Post #181.

Gene was born on February 7, 1931, in Hastings, NE to Horace and Alta (Wallick) Wolfe. He graduated from Pawnee City High School, Pawnee City, NE, in 1949 and went on to serve as a telegrapher in the U.S. Navy, receiving an honorable discharge. After his military service, Gene worked as a station agent for UPRR, retiring in 1991 from Marysville.

On December 14, 1963, Gene was united in marriage to Arvila Wilcox in Pawnee City and was blessed with a daughter, Carla.

Gene loved traveling with his wife to visit family and had a passion for listening to big band music and dancing with Arvila. He was a social person, often enjoying lunch, games, and time with friends at the Community Center. With the help of his son-in-law, Gene expanded his home and enjoyed the companionship of his beloved cats.

He and Carla traveled to Newfoundland, where they kissed a codfish and were named honorary Newfoundlanders.

Gene was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Masonic Temple, and Odd Fellows throughout his life.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and wife, Arvila in 2010.

Gene is survived by his daughter, Carla Wolfe (Greg Marples) of Marysville.

A memorial fund has been established and will be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of Padden Funeral Chapel, c/o Kinsley Mortuary, P.O. Box 147, Marysville, KS 66508.
