A funeral was held over Zoom on Saturday, October 24 at 11:00 a.m. Those interested in attending should contacted the family for the meeting I.D. and password. A public graveside service followed at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, at the Fairmont Cemetery in Blue Rapids. Those attending may remain in their vehicles if they wish. Masks and social distancing were strongly encouraged. Gertrude was born April 13, 1929 in Wymore, NE, to Christian and Florence (Noe) Stalder. She was the second youngest of eight siblings. She remembered her childhood as being happy, with plenty to eat and lots of love. In 1949, Gertrude graduated from Wymore High School. She said her life really began when she married and started a family of her own. On November 3, 1951, Gertrude married James George Flower at Ridgeland, SC. In the 1950’s she worked for Samsonite sewing luggage. Later, she worked for the Blue Rapids Greenhouse. Gertrude was a homemaker who enjoyed birdwatching, flower gardening and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Gertrude was a faithful Jehovah’s Witness and loved going to the local Kingdom Hall and sharing her faith with others. All who knew her have fond memories of her warm hugs. Gertrude was always positive and found reasons to laugh. The world would be a nicer place if everyone saw others the way she did; she always looked for the good in people. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Flower; brothers, Kennith Noe, Matthew Noe, Daniel Stalder and Robert Stalder; two sisters, Rosetta “Babe” Stalder Boydston and Christina Stalder; grandson, Jason Flower; and great granddaughter, Emily Rosebaugh. Survivors include her children, Dorothy Cole, Murrieta, CA, Kathy (Steve) Scritchfield, Beattie, Jim (Melinda) Flower, Bill (Joni) Flower, both of Blue Rapids, Christina (Steve) Rosebaugh, Carol (James) Rosebaugh, both of Greenleaf; her sister, Lucy Stalder Shaffer; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, who loved her dearly. A memorial fund is established and will be designated later by the family. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
