His mother’s sister, Margaret, helped care for Butch as an infant. Later, Herman A. and Margaret were married. They raised Butch on a farm between Odell and Krider. In 1950, the family moved to Arizona and he graduated from Buckeye Union High School in 1953. Butch moved back to the stateline area in 1957 and served eight years in Nebraska Army National Guard, Company C,134th Infantry. On June 12, 1966, he was united in marriage to Karen Jean Parrack. They had two sons, Brad & Bob. Herman worked for the Wymore Post Office for 28 years, as clerk and mail carrier. He enjoyed raising Charolais cattle on his small farming operation. He spent many evenings alongside his boys as they built race cars and took great pride in watching them race those cars on the weekends. Butch loved playing cards and he and Karen enjoyed being part of a card club with friends and neighbors. His grandkids meant the world to him and he spent hours and hours entertaining them and making memories that they will forever cherish. Butch was a member of Stateline Immanuel Lutheran Church where he served on the cemetery board for many years.
