James “Jim” E. Heiman, 65, Oketo, passed away Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at Bryan West in Lincoln, NE.
Visitation was from 1 to 5 p.m., Friday, November 15, 2024, at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville.
A rosary service was held at 7 p.m., Friday at St. Malachy’s Catholic Church in Beattie.
A funeral mass was held at 10 a.m., Saturday, November 16, 2024, at St. Malachy’s Catholic Church. Father Quentin Schmitz officiated. The musicians were Brenda Helmerichs and Veronica Olmsted. Music included "Be Not Afraid", "The Lord is Kind and Merciful", "Servant Song", "Precious Lord, Take my Hand", "Eye has not Seen", "These Alone Are Enough", "Keep in Mind" and "On Eagles Wings."
Pallbearers were Ben Stueve, Dillon Stueve, Andy Peschel, Jake Hill, Cody Hill and Michael Crome.
Honorary Pallbearers were Cameron Heiman, Koston Heiman, Cohen Heiman, Kynlee Heiman, Ziah Heiman, Preston Heiman, Eli Heiman, Nora Heiman, Addy Heiman, Tucker Pralle, Walker Pralle, Colby Heiman and Graydon Heiman.
Burial was in St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery.
Jim was born to John and JoAnn (Rueger) Heiman on September 9, 1959 in Axtell, KS. After high school, he worked for the Beattie Farmers Coop before taking over the farm in 1987 after his father passed. He also worked part-time for the Beattie Locker and Schneider Trucking.
He was united in marriage to Brenda Hill and this union was blessed with five children, Nick, Tony, Brad, Rhonda and Mark.
Jim loved watching Westerns on TV and enjoyed following the Kansas City Chiefs. His favorite pastime was taking his grandchildren on “crop tours” around the farm to check on his future harvest.
Preceding him in death were his parents; infant sister, Margaret; and father-in-law, ArWayne Hill.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda; children, Nick (Angel) Heiman, Tony (Monica) Heiman, Brad (Chandra) Heiman, Rhonda (Dan) Pralle and Mark (Lesa) Heiman; sisters, Patty (Donald) Stueve, Brenda (Roland) Peschel; brother-in-law, Tim Hill; sister-in-law, Carmen Hill; and mother-in-law, Kay Hill; and thirteen grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in his name and will be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary, Marysville, KS.
