James "Jim" E. Wanklyn, 52, of Frankfort, KS, died April 2, 2023, at Ascension Via Christi St. Francis in Wichita, KS. Visitation was Thursday, April 6, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 7, at the Beattie United Methodist Church. Rev. Jim Akins officiated. Janet Plegge played the organ while Kim Stewart sang “Jealous of the Angels” and “Amazing Grace.” The pallbearers will be Ben Koch, Tom Cook, Rick Koch, Roger Skeen, Cody Wanklyn, Bobby Goodwin and Casey Kallenbach. Burial was in the Beattie Union Cemetery. Jim was born on November 13, 1970, at Marysville, to Kenneth and Dolores (Harry) Wanklyn. He attended Frankfort High School and graduated in 1989. After high school, he attended Manhattan Area Technical College and received his degree in welding. He worked for Diamond D in Blue Rapids, Landoll Corporation, Union Pacific Railroad in Maintenance of Way, and most recently ran a courier route based out of Farmers Coop Beattie Branch. Some things that Jim enjoyed doing were fishing, hunting, trapping, searching for arrowheads and looking for antler sheds and reading about those things. He liked to attend trapping conventions that were held in various places in the Midwest and also liked to search for morel mushrooms. Jim enjoyed watching Kansas State football and basketball and the Kansas City Chiefs. Preceding him in death is his father, Kenneth Wanklyn in 2018. Survivors include his mother, Dolores Wanklyn, Frankfort; brother, Tim (SueAnn) Wanklyn, Frankfort; sister, Cindy (Rick) Koch, Beattie; and nephews, Ben Koch and Cody Wanklyn. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
