Janet Suzanne Kniesteadt Holle, 75, passed away May 14, 2020 at Cambridge Place in Marysville after a three-year battle with pancreatic cancer. Visitation was Sunday, May 17 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary. A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 18 at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Marysville. Rev. Philip Miller officiated. Deb Landoll played the organ while the congregation sang "Amazing Grace” and “Peace & Joy”. The pallbearers were Bob Voet, Larry Novotny, Doug Novotny, Kevin Vrtiska, Frank Shoemaker and Luin Berger. Burial was in the Oketo Cemetery, Oketo, KS. Janet was born in Marysville, December 28, 1944 to Everett and Helen Kniesteadt. She graduated from Marysville High School in 1963. On August 11, 1968, she married Melvern Holle at the United Methodist Church in Marysville and had three children. Janet was employed at the Marshall County Courthouse. Then after her marriage to Melvern was a farm wife. When they moved to Oketo, KS and her children were all in school she began working at Pizza Hut, Hardee's and then as dietary manager at Cambridge Place in Marysville where she retired in 2003. Janet had many hobbies including reading, cooking and crocheting and spent time with her husband on the Kansas City Barbeque Society circuit until her health declined. Survivors include her husband Melvern, Oketo; her three children, Carol (Gene) Erdmann, Barneston, NE; Diane Herrmann, Oketo; Allen (Ashley) Holle, Salina; sister Kristyn (Curtis) Kniesteadt, Marysville; grandchildren, Dani Pishny, Barneston; Sara Herrmann, Oketo; and Holden Holle, Salina. Preceding her in death were her parents, and a son-in-law, David Herrmann. A memorial fund has been established to the Oketo Cemetery and Meadowlark Hospice.
