Janet Carol Overbeck, 66, of Hanover, Kan., died April 4, 2019 at the Hanover Hospital. Visitation is 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday, April 9 at the Hanover Mortuary. A rosary service will be held at 7 p.m., Tuesday at St. John's Catholic Church, Hanover. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 10, at St. John's Catholic Church. Father Joseph Kieffer will officiate. The pallbearers will be Roger Diederich, Ryan Diederich, Lane Meier, Landon Meier, Cody Ohlde and Maverick Ohlde. The honorary pallbearers will be Erika Wiese, Preston Mindt, Miranda Ohlde and Melissa Diederich. Private burial will be in the church cemetery at a later date. Janet was born June 29, 1952 at Washington, Kan., to Walter John and Isabel Marie (Scheetz) Diederich. In 1970, she graduated from Hanover High School. On February 2, 1974, she married Verni W. “Bill” Overbeck at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Greenleaf. Janet worked many years at Tension Envelope in Marysville, as a machine operator and then as a secretary. She also did daycare and helped her husband, Bill, with their Kerr McGee and Conoco stations in Marysville and Hanover. She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church and Altar Society. Janet enjoyed volunteering at the Kloppenberg Center and Meadowlark Hospice. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill on Nov. 17, 2009; brother, Charles “Chuck” Diederich; and brother-in-law, Robert Overbeck. Survivors include her daughters, Jackie (Greg) Meier, York, Neb., and Joni (David) Ohlde, Marysville, Kan.; sisters, Marilyn (Alexander) Armenta, and Joyce Porter, all of Salina, Kan.; brother, John (Lisa) Diederich, Barnes, Kan.; sisters-in-law, Mary (Ross) Abbott, and Joyce (Steve) Voss, all of Guttenberg, Iowa; brother-in-law, Carl (Sue) Overbeck, Texas; seven grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial fund is established and will be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of Hanover Mortuary.
