Janet M. Wecker

Janet Marlene Wecker, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister passed away peacefully at her home on February 19, 2025, at the age of 82.

Born on May 6, 1942, in Marysville, Kansas, to Loren and Helen (Hersh) Kraemer, Janet was a vibrant and nurturing soul whose presence touched the hearts of all who knew her. Janet's journey through life was marked by deep love for her family, a dedication to her work, and a remarkable talent for creating beauty with her hands.

She married Robert Joseph Baker on November 21, 1957, in Olathe, Kansas, and together they raised a family until Robert’s untimely passing in 1963. Janet later married William Wayne Wecker in 1966, and their union lasted until 1974. Throughout her life, Janet was a loving and devoted mother to her children: Bobbie Baker, James Baker (deceased), Carmen Forrest (married to Ken Forrest), and Jerry Wecker (married to Danielle Wecker).

Janet’s family grew with the arrival of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each of whom she adored and showered with love. Her grandchildren included David Kirkham, Chris Kirkham, Dylan Baker, Pat Kirkham, Will Kirkham (married to Ashley Kirkham, parents to Kayleigh and Nolan), Robert Shelburne III (married to Rose Shelburne, parents to Lily and Walker), Pandora (Wecker) Stonebarger (married to Dalton, parents to Malia), Chyna Wecker, and Lyta Wecker.

Known for her artistic talents, Janet was an avid sewer who lovingly crafted beautiful quilts for each of her children and grandchildren, ensuring that the warmth of her love was woven into every stitch. These quilts became cherished heirlooms, each one uniquely designed to reflect the personality and character of the recipient.

In addition to her passion for sewing, Janet ran the Mixer Liquor Store in Marysville for many years, until it was sold in the late 90’s.

Janet is survived by her two beloved sisters, Donna and Linda, who will forever cherish their memories together. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Robert, son James, and her parents Loren and Helen Kraemer. Janet will be deeply missed by her surviving family members and many friends, but her memory will live on in the quilts she created, the love she shared, and the legacy of kindness she left behind.

Private family services will be held.

Rest in peace, Janet, knowing that your love and warmth will continue to surround your family for generations to come.
