Jennifer JoAnne Brown, 57, died Thursday, November 24, 2022, at her home. On February 6, 1965, Jennifer was born to Jerry and JoAnne (Simanek) Vetter at the Cozad Community Hospital in Cozad, NE. She attended school at North Platte High School and graduated in 1982. In 1984, she received her Certificate of Completion from the NHCA Nursing Assistant Program at the University of Nebraska in Kearney. In March of 1987, Jennifer married Jerry Brown. Jennifer was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and proud dog mom. She had a very soft spot for all things nature, whether that be animals or adventuring and being active. Her favorite place was to be in a nice warm spot in the sun with a dog on her lap. She enjoyed gardening and tending to her house and yard. During the summer she could be found at the lake water skiing, tubing, chasing waves on a Wave Runner, and of course, soaking up the sun. She was a very talented slalom skier and drank her fair share of lake water tying to share this skill with JoAnna. In the winter months, she enjoyed the slopes in Colorado. Another favorite place for her was Steamboat Springs, CO, where she and her family enjoyed to vacation yearly. Hard work and dedication to craft was important to Jennifer, taking pride in everything she did. If something was going to be done, it needed to be done well. Her work ethic was infectious and very admirable to all that knew her. Jennifer had a gift to get things done quickly and efficiently. Everything she did was full of love. In 2003, Jennifer was diagnosed with brain cancer and went through several treatments at Bryan Medical Center in Lincoln, NE. She was admitted to MD Anderson in Houston, TX for brain surgery. This was successful and she remained cancer free. Preceding her in death were her parents. Survivors include her husband, Jerry; children, JoAnna Higgins, Jerri Brown and Mike Brown; grandchildren, Sage Higgins, Haley Oehm, Mckenzie Brown, Josslyn Brown and Mytchel Brown. A private service for her family will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please donate in Jennifer’s name to the ASPCA.
