Jiggs Slifer

Kenneth Eugene “Jiggs” Slifer, Frankfort, 91, passed away October 11, 2020 at the Frankfort Community Care Home. A private service will be held at a later date. Jiggs was born March 21, 1929 at Syracuse, KS and graduated from Frankfort High School in 1947. He married Maxine Joyce Foster on August 8, 1948. She passed away July 15, 2007. Jiggs worked for the Union Pacific and Rock Island Railroads and retired from the Southern Pacific Railroad in 1991. He enjoyed vegetable gardening and loved watching and going to Kansas State Football games with Terry. He exercised every day, from calisthenics to walking several miles. Survivors include his children, Sandra Noble, Topeka, KS, Judy (Leon) Scott, Seneca, KS, Terry (Cathy) Slifer, Lawrence, KS, and Kim Nolte, Seneca, KS; brother, Verlin Slifer, Bigelow, KS; grandchildren, Rich Schooler, Jeremy Schooler, Dustin Scott, Brianna Uphouse, Anthony Nolte, Ethan Notle, Tyler Notle, and step granddaughter Mickhail Davis; 11 great grandchildren and a host of cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife Maxine; parents, George and Gladys Slifer; brothers, Harry, Don, Virgil (Bud), and sister, Joy Otts. A memorial fund is established and will be designated later by the family. Contributions may be sent in care of Padden Funeral Chapel, Frankfort.
