Jill Dianne Rettig, 83, went home to be with her Lord on December 14, 2024. She passed away at the Hanover Hospital, Hanover, KS.
Visitation was held on Thursday, December 19, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Hanover Mortuary. The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m.
A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 20, at Zion Lutheran Church in Hanover. Pastor Elvin Crosby and Jill Duis officiated. The organist was Janet Fritschi and the soloist was David Heuer. Music included "Precious Lord, Take My Hand", "All Is Well With My Soul", and "Blessed Assurance."
The pallbearers were Chad Kruse, Jeremy Schaefer, Ben Schaefer, Nick Schaefer, Tristen Schaefer and Ashton Schaefer.
The honorary pallbearers were Elliot Schaefer, Konnor Wolf, Brekett Kruse, and Ford Schaefer.
Burial was in the Hanover Cemetery.
Jill was born on December 17, 1940, in Clyde, KS, to Arnold and Dorla (Perkins) Andrewson.
In 1958, she was married to Robert R. Rettig. They enjoyed 46 years of marriage. After Robert’s passing in 2004, Jill married Gary G. Menard in 2010. Gary passed away in 2011.
Jill was a loving mother and grandmother, as well as an accomplished woman with a love of learning and a desire to improve herself. She worked many years in the financial industry, and later dedicated herself to becoming a Parish Ministry Associate and served Zion Lutheran Church in Hanover and St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lanham.
Preceding her in death are her parents; husbands, Robert Rettig Sr. and Gary Menard; siblings, Sonja Taylor, Andy Andrewson, Tyrone Andrewson, Monty Andrewson, and Hans Andrewson.
Survivors include her 3 children, Tamara (Douglas) Schaefer, Bremen, KS, Lynette (Adrian) Horne, Topeka, KS, and Robert (Melody) Rettig Jr., Ore City, TX; 7 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sister, Jolene (Ron) Cibolski; brother, TC (Angela) Andrewson; beloved sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews.
