Jim Leseberg, 74, of Herkimer, KS, died May 15, 2024 at Saint Elizabeth Medical Center in Lincoln, NE.
Visitation was Sunday, May 19, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary. The family received friends from 4-6 p.m.
A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 20 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, north of Bremen. Rev. Aaron T. Fenker, Sr. officiated. The organist was Jennifer Jung. Music included "God's Own Child, I Gladly Say It", "In Thee is Gladness" and "Children of the Heavenly Father."
The pallbearers were Allen Harries, Aaron Harries, Craig Harries, Joshua Rengstorf, Ryan Rengstorf, Vinny Leseberg and Daryl Fink.
Military honors were presented by the Hanover American Legion Post #306.Burial was in the church cemetery.
Jim was born on August 4, 1949, to Wilfred and Edna (Saathoff) Leseberg in Beatrice, NE. In 1967, he graduated from Marysville High School.
On August 20, 1972, Jim was united in marriage to Alvera (Viv) Niemann at Trinity Lutheran Church, north of Hanover. To this union they were blessed with two daughters.
For many years, Jim was a dairy farmer. He also worked at Landoll Corporation as a forklift driver for 27 years, until retiring at the age of 70.
Jim served many positions on the Church Board such as an Elder and Secretary. He was also a member of the Men’s Club and helped with the Hanover American Legion activities.
Kansas State sports were something Jim found enjoyment in watching, along with his own kids and grandkids activities.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and siblings, Bev Weiche and Roger Leseberg.
Survivors include his wife; daughters, Michelle (Tom) Luppen and Jami (Scott) Schotte; and grandchildren, Elizabeth Luppen, Noah Luppen, Evan Schotte and Nathan Schotte.
A memorial fund has been established to Bethlehem Lutheran Church or Good Shepherd Lutheran School. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
