Jo Ann Lacy

Jo Ann Lacy, 87, of Marysville, KS, died September 7, 2024, at her home in Marysville.

A funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 16 at Kinsley Mortuary. Pastor Jackie Creek officiated. 

Burial followed in St. Gregory's Catholic Cemetery.

Jo Ann was born on June 7, 1937, in Marysville to Ben and Mae Messick. She was baptized when she was in the 5th grade and confirmed at the First Christian Church in Marysville. In 1955, she graduated from Marysville High School.

She was married to John McHugh in 1958. Together they had three children, Joyce Ann, Ronald "Ron" Dean and Sandra Jo. Later, in 1965, she married Urban Hasenkamp and together they had a son, Michael Ray. She then was married to Paul Behrens and lastly Ken Lacy. 

Jo Ann worked at numerous local stores and cafes in Marysville, including House of Flowers, Ott Electric, Gambles and Gibsons. She also worked at Cambridge Place and most recently she worked for Three Rivers until retiring at the age of 80.

Spending time with her children and grandchildren, crocheting, going to the Casino, collecting angels and listening to Elvis Presley were among some of her favorite things to do. Jo Ann had a very large collection of everything Elvis.

Jo Ann always worked hard to provide for her family and would have done anything for them. She loved them dearly and made it known. Jo Ann was a friend for life and she loved to live life to the fullest. 

Preceding her in death is her husband, Ken Lacy; parents; daughter, Joyce Ann McHugh, 1959; son, Michael Hasenkamp Sr., 2017; grandson, Caleb Blumer; a great-grandchild; and two brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include her children, Ron (Denise) McHugh, Oketo, KS and Sandra Jo (Blaine Hawley) Blumer, Holton, KS; 9 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.

A memorial fund has been established and will be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
