Jack was born November 14, 1936, in Marysville, KS, to Nils and Anna (Rickson) Nork. He graduated from Marysville High School after which time he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served two years. Jack went on to obtain a degree in social work from the Emporia State University. After holding various positions in different parts of the country, Jack settled in Topeka, KS, to assist his older sister who had been suddenly widowed. Once in Topeka, he became an employment counselor with the State of Kansas and assisted those who were newly released from correctional facilities in finding and maintaining steady employment. Jack was a devout Catholic and was a member of the Mater Dei Parish in Topeka for many years. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. He spent his years after retirement volunteering at the Parish. He administered communion to elderly shut-ins and provided transportation to those who needed assistance. Jack had a servant’s heart and lived by 1 Peter 4:10: “Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.” Family and friends remember Jack as a generous and compassionate presence. He was known for his optimistic spirit and was genuinely interested in the life and challenges of each and every person he met. Jack is survived by his brother, Jim Nork, Marysville; his nieces and nephews, Steve, Peggy, Mary, Mike, Anita, Larry, John, Doug, Roberta, Pat, Laura, Mary and Chris; and other family and friends. He is now reunited with his parents, Nils and Anna; and his other siblings, Marjorie, Mary, Shirley and Paul and rests in the comfort of the Lord. Donations may be made to St. Gregory or Mater Dei Catholic Church. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
