John R. Schuessler, 69, Hanover, died Friday, May 29, 2020. Visitation was Friday, June 5, from noon until 8 p.m. at the Hanover Mortuary. A funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 6 at St. John's Catholic Church in Hanover. Father Joseph Kieffer officiated. Janet Fritschi was the organist. Music included “Morning Has Broken”, “On Eagles Wings”, “Prayer of St. Francis”, “Ave Maria” and “Here I Am Lord”. The pallbearers were Gary Bruna, Doug Bruna, David Behrens, Joe Schuessler, Ron Schuessler and Mike Schuessler. Burial was in the church cemetery. John was born March 26, 1951 in Hanover, KS to Francis and Marie (Benda) Schuessler. In 1969, he graduated from Hanover High School. He served in the U.S. Marines and was honorably discharged in 1971. John owned and operated JB’s Arrowhead Tavern in Hanover and ran heavy equipment. He worked many years as a long-haul truck driver for various companies, also an owner operator, his last job driving for Landoll’s. John was a lifetime member of the American Legion and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Preceding him in death were his parents; brother, David Schuessler; and sister, Mary Ann Bonger. Survivors include his wife, Rosalina; daughter, Sonya (Sean) Elliott; step-children, Kindra, Roland, Vinnie, Kyla and Angel; brothers, Joe (Merci) Schuessler, Watsonville, CA, Don (Linda) Schuessler, Hanover; sisters, Barb (Mike) Cranfill, Ft. Worth, TX, Grace (Dale) Elmquist, Greenvalley, AZ; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial fund is established and will be designated later by the family.
