Judy K. Springer, 86, of Hanover, KS, died August 20, 2024, at the Hanover Long Term Care.
The visitation was held Thursday, August 22, from 5-8 p.m. at the Hanover Mortuary.
A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 23, at Zion Lutheran Church in Hanover. Rev. Elvin Crosby officiated. The organist was Janet Fritschi and music included "Amazing Grace", "In the Garden" and "On Eagle's Wings."
The pallbearers were Justin Springer, Michael Shirk, Jacob Friedrichs, Brady Shirk, Cohen Springer and Bentley Springer.
Burial was in the Hanover City Cemetery.
Judy was born May 29, 1938, at Randolph, KS, to Oscar and Anna (Daniels) Burgman. In 1956, she graduated from Randolph High School.
On July 9, 1956, she married Robert Springer at Clay Center, KS. In the early 60’s they moved to Hanover. Together they traveled to all 50 states, Europe and Sweden.
Judy was the Hanover City Librarian for over 40 years. She also sang in several area choirs and for many funerals throughout the years. Judy was active at the Barnes United Methodist Church and women’s group before the church closed. She served on the Hanover Library Board and Hanover Hospital Board.
She enjoyed watching the kids in Hanover grow up and play sports for the Hanover Wildcats. She was a Kansas University basketball fan and enjoyed watching Big 12 games. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, going fishing and canning.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Springer on November 26, 2020; son, Douglas R. Springer on Nov. 5, 2021; brothers, Harold, Leo, John and Valdean; and sisters, Dolores Gillespie, Joann Fluharty, Shirley Duensing and Sharon Harding.
Survivors include her daughters, Susan (Maurice) Friedrichs, Marysville, and Nancy Springer, Salina, KS; sister, Sandy (Charles) Rightmeier, Randolph; sister-in-law, Alyce Springer, Randolph; grandchildren, Justin Springer, Michael Shirk, Brady Shirk and Jacob (Jessica) Friedrichs; and two great-grandchildren, Cohen and Bentley Springer.
