Katherine Dea Pacha, 80, of Marysville, KS, passed away February 3, 2022, at Cambridge Place in Marysville. Visitation was Sunday, February 6, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. A vigil service was held at 7:00 p.m., Sunday at St. Gregory’s Catholic Church in Marysville. Father Joseph Kieffer officiated. A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, February 7, at St. Gregory’s Catholic Church. Father Jim Shaughnessy officiated. Rosemary Forst played the organ while Paula Landoll-Smith led the congregation singing “Be Not Afraid”, “Prayer of St. Frances”, “On Eagles Wings”, “Ave Maria”, “You are Near” and “Morning Has Broken”. The pallbearers were Steve Pacha, John Kerr, Keith Warders, Alexander Kerr, Eric Stichternath and Danny Parmentier. Burial was in St. Gregory's Catholic Cemetery. Katherine was born on March 12, 1941, to Vincent and Irene (Otto) Costello in Marysville. After graduating from Marysville High, she earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from St. Elizabeth School of Nursing. After briefly working as a nurse, she married Raymond F. Pacha in 1962. Raymond and Katherine farmed west of Marysville for over thirty years. They raised four children, Robert, of Marysville, Julia (Rod) Larsen, Arvada, CO, Rebecca, and Annette, both of Marysville. She later earned a degree in Agricultural Economics from Kansas State University. She worked as a consultant to numerous nursing homes throughout Kansas and was the first administrator of Cambridge Place. Katherine’s greatest joy, next to her children and grandchildren, was sorting hogs on the family farm. She had an incredible knack for assembling puzzles and continued this hobby until recently. She hand-crafted and sewed beautiful quilts and enjoyed making and donating quilts and stocking hats for local newborns. She enjoyed watching sports and was an avid fan of the Kansas City Royals, Kansas City Chiefs, and the Kansas State Wildcats. She was a proud member of St. Gregory’s Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Anne Marie; parents, Vincent and Irene; and sister, Marilee. Survivors include her husband, Raymond; children, Robert, Julia, Rebecca, and Annette; six grandchildren; sister, Cheryl; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. A memorial fund has been established to Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary. Video of Funeral for Katherine Pacha
