Kathryn S. Dowd, 67, Marysville, formerly of Frankfort, KS, died March 21, 2021 at Community Memorial Healthcare in Marysville. A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 25, at Padden Funeral Chapel in Frankfort, KS. Visitation was an hour before the service. Rev. Jim Akins officiated. Music included "Go Rest High On That Mountain", "Dancing in the Sky" and "Finally Home". Pallbearers were Dewey Smith, Jr., Cole Grote, Michael Thomas, Kyle Thomas, Kris Dowd and Evan Hartley. Honorary pallbearers were Messiah Wooten, Lathan Dowd, Keighton Dowd and Russ Washington. Burial was at the Frankfort City Cemetery. Kathryn (Kathy) Sue Dowd was born October 13, 1953 at Marysville Hospital to Chauncey Otto and Mary Jane (Craig) Dowd. She graduated from Frankfort High School and attended Highland Community College from 1971-1973. Kathy then moved to Topeka and worked in area nursing homes. She waitressed in Frankfort for a few years and especially enjoyed working with Linda O’Toole. Kathy loved gathering with family, playing softball and reading. She also enjoyed fishing but did not like cleaning the fish. Kathy is remembered for her wonderful caring personality and being there for anyone who needed her. She is preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Josephine Benteman, Shirley Smith, Clara Jefferies; and two brothers, George Dowd and Chauncey Dowd. Survivors include two sisters, Sharon (Harold) Singleton, Seneca and Betty Dowd, Marysville; one brother, John Henry (Wilma) Dowd, Holton; and many nieces and nephews.
