Kenneth "Kenny" L. Sells, 66, of Marysville, Kan., died March 30, 2019 at his home. Visitation was Wednesday, April 3, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. A rosary service was held at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday at St. Gregory's Catholic Church in Marysville. A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, April 4 at St. Gregory's Catholic Church. Father Nathan Haverland and Father Gary Pennings officiated. The musicians were Cindy Voet, Wayne Kruse and Paula Landoll-Smith. Music included “Rise Up with Him”, “Taste and See”, “Amazing Grace”, “I Am the Bread of Life”, “On Eagles Wings”, “Pastures of the Lord”, “Sing to the Mountains” and “New Creation”. The pallbearers were Jerry Pope, Dave Hamel, Dan Caffrey, John Haefele, Andrew Weides, Steve Weides, Kenny Kickhaefer and Jeff Schroller. The honorary pallbearers were Mike Baker, Rob Sage, Roger Hansen, John Harries, Brice Leonard, Allen Tiller and Jack Donovan. Kenny was born August 25, 1952 at Belleville, Kan., to Wayne and Leona (Jakabosky) Sells. He graduated from Belleville High School and attended Cloud County Community College. He spent eighteen years working in the grocery business and then twenty-nine years as an insurance agent for Farm Bureau Financial Services before retiring in 2015. Kenny received several awards including 1988 Rookie of the Year, then The All-Star, All American, Silver Spur Award and Presidents Award later. He was an original board member of the Agents Association, past Chamber of Commerce President and served on the Convention and Tourism Board. He served on the St. Gregory’s Finance Council and St. Gregory’s School Alumni Fundraising Committee. Kenny enjoyed working on the St. Gregory's Open Committee and MIT (Marysville Invitational Tournament) which help support the Marysville High School golf teams. Kenny enjoyed golf trips with his friends and family. He especially liked watching his grandchildren in all their activities and Kansas State Sports. He married Debbie Ekstrom in 1976. She survives. Other survivors include his children, Johnathan (Monica) Sells, Overland Park, Kan. and Graig (Blair) Sells, Parker, Colo.; two brothers, twin Keith (Deb) Sells and Doane Sells, all of Belleville; sister, Susan Sells, Stockton, Calif; and six grandchildren, Jack, Mallory, Madelyn, Josiah, Weston and Knox. He was preceded in death by his parents. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established and will be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
