Kenneth L. Marshall

Ken Marshall, age 82, of Axtell, Kansas, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2025, at the Apostolic Christian Home in Sabetha, Kansas.

Born on April 24, 1942, in Seligman, Missouri, to Richard and Hester Marshall, Ken spent much of his youth in the Barry County, Missouri area before relocating to Independence, Missouri. He pursued a successful career in carpentry, completing the Carpenter's apprenticeship program, where he developed a passion for advocating for improved benefits within the trade. Over the span of more than 50 years, Ken worked as a journeyman carpenter, construction foreman, and general contractor, contributing significantly to numerous large construction projects in the Kansas City region and beyond.

In 1986, Ken married Edna Olson, and together they lived in Kansas City and Napoleon, Missouri, before retiring to Axtell.

Ken attended and served at Shepherd of the Valley LCMS in Oak Grove, Missouri, and more recently, at First Lutheran Church in Summerfield, Kansas.

Horses played a significant role in Ken’s life from an early age. He was an active member of the Ararat Shrine (Mounted Guard) in Kansas City and later the Moila Shrine (Horse Patrol) in St. Joseph, Missouri. In 2012-2013, he had the honor of serving as President of the Inter-National Shrine Horse Patrol. Through Shrine events held across the United States, Ken and Edna enjoyed traveling, participating in parades, and forging lifelong friendships within the Shriners Organization.

Ken is survived by his beloved wife, Edna, of the home; two sons, Scott and Jeff; and two grandchildren, Amanda and Austin.

Private services will be scheduled at a later date.
