Kirk Charles Bradford, 71, of Marysville, Kansas, passed away on December 23, 2024, at the Nebraska Heart Institute in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Visitation took place from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on January 10, 2025, at St. Gregory's Catholic Church in Marysville, followed by a rosary service at 6:30 p.m. The funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at the same venue. A private family burial occured later that day at St. Gregory's Catholic Cemetery.
Kirk was born on May 25, 1953, in Lawrence, Kansas, to William "Bill" Edward and Edith “Joan” (Morris) Bradford. He spent his formative years in Wamego and graduated from Wamego High School in 1971. On August 3, 1973, he married Anne Peterson at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Mary’s, Kansas.
After earning his degree from the University of Kansas School of Business in 1975, Kirk and Anne began their life together in Osborne, Kansas, before moving to Holton, Kansas. In 1983, they settled in Marysville, where Kirk went on to have a distinguished career at the Citizens State Bank, ultimately serving as President and CEO. He graduated from the Graduate School of Banking at Colorado, and later served on the Board of Trustees. Kirk was an active member of the Kansas Bankers Association, serving as Treasurer of the Board of Directors. He was also on the Board of Directors of the Bremen Farmers Mutual Insurance Company for 33 years.
Kirk joined the Catholic church when he was 48. He considered his faith carefully for many years and then was fully committed. He enjoyed singing in the men’s choir and was involved in the life of the church, participating and serving others.
A dedicated runner, Kirk completed an impressive 63 marathons, including one in each state. He enjoyed traveling and had a passion for sports, encouraging his children and grandchildren to see the world and be active in nature. He and Anne loved to spend time at their farm making trails, building fires, and watching the wildlife and night sky.
Kirk was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his beloved wife, Anne; children, Katie (Walker) Gray and their children, Reece, Ava, and Nolan, of Lawrence, Kansas; Chris (Morgan) Bradford and their children, Georgia Mae and Hudson, of Kerhonkson, New York; and Scott Bradford of Charlotte, North Carolina. He is also survived by his sister, Ann (Jay) Yingling of Augusta, Kentucky, and his brother, Stephen (Kim) Bradford of Ketchikan, Alaska.
In honor of Kirk's memory, a memorial fund has been established with contributions directed to St. Gregory's Catholic School. Donations can be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
