LaVonne Ruth Farrell, 82, of Frankfort, Kan., died Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at the Onaga Hospital. She was born August 14, 1936 at Waterville, Kan., to Leland and Helen (Catlin) Cook. She lived most of her life in Frankfort. In 1954, she graduated from Frankfort High School, where she played basketball. On April 7, 1956, she married George R. Farrell.Visitation will be Friday, October 26 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Padden Funeral Chapel in Frankfort.A rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Friday, at Annunciation Catholic Church in Frankfort.A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 27 at Annunciation Catholic Church. Father Anthony Chendumalli and Father Jim Shaughnessy will officiate. The lector will be Steve O’Shea. The musicians will be Jane Sedlacek and Amy Jacques. Music will include “Angel Among Us” and “On Eagles Wings”.The pallbearers will be Brian Little, Tim Palmer, John Farrell, Dan Burgess, Gary Engelken and Kaleb Palmer.The honorary pallbearers will be Craig Zirger, Bill Farrell, Ed Rinehardt, Mike Gibson, Willie Farrant, Richard Littlefield and Richard Hull.Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery near Frankfort.She was a medication aide at the Frankfort Care Home and Westmoreland Care Home and worked in Dr. Dechairo’s Clinic at Westmoreland. She worked for and later owned the Frankfort Fan Newspaper.LaVonne was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church, where she served as the organist for several years. She played at many weddings and funerals. She also belonged to the Frankfort Legion Auxiliary, Frankfort Altar Society and Frankfort Saddle Club.LaVonne loved casino trips, bunco, K-State Basketball and the Royals baseball.She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George, in August 2000; son, Timothy, in April 1973; and stepfather, Edward Mitchell.Survivors include her children, John (Jenda) Farrell, Michael Farrell, both of Frankfort, Edward (Lorna) Farrell, Axtell, Kan., and Geneva (Ron) Taylor, Blaine, Kan.; six grandchildren, Kent Taylor, Jacob Farrell, Adam Farrell, Sarah Nichols, Jessie Blakeslee and Mandy Quenzer; and ten great grandchildren, Lindsey Wolnik, Brooke Taylor, Miles Taylor, Jorja Blakeslee, Kaylee Farrell, Raya Farrell, Kallie Farrell, Maygen Farrell, Brennan Farrell and Hayden Farrell; brother Lyle (Susie) Cook, Mesa Ariz.; and sister, Mary (Richard) Littlefield, Americus, Kan.A memorial fund has been established and will be designated later.
