She was united in marriage to Gale Collins and became a farmwife.  Lila and Gale sold NC+ Seed for 40 years.  She loved serving the agriculture community.  When the truck would come to unload the bags of seed, she would have every last kernel accounted for. Harvest time was always a bitter sweet time for Lila.  But the stress of harvest was always calmed when she would proudly take the grain to the Marietta Elevator in her white truck.  Everyone would wave to her, but they would seldom get a wave back because she had to have both hands on the wheel.  That white truck was her pride and joy.  It was heart breaking when she could no longer drive it. But, she would still ride in it to see her friends at the elevator. In the last few years, she became a huge Royals fan, hardly missed watching a game on television.  Most of all, you didn’t call to talk when a game was on.  Salvy was her favorite player. Lila was a lady who valued family and friendships, more than anything else.  The response that her community showed when she took ill is proof to this love. Survivors include her husband, Gale; daughter, Pam (Kevin) McKee, Hiawatha; two grandchildren, Megan and Justin; and two great grandchildren, Camaron and Oliva. She was preceded in death by her parents. A memorial fund has been established to Meadowlark Hospice.  Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
