Lloyd A. Wetter, 92, of Hanover, KS, died June 25, 2021, at Hanover. Visitation was Monday, June 28, from noon to 5 p.m. at the Hanover Mortuary. A rosary service was held at 7:00 p.m., Monday, at St. John's Catholic Church in Hanover. A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 29, at St. John's Catholic Church. Father Joseph Kieffer officiate. Janet Fritschi played the organ while the church choir sang “I Heard the Voice of Jesus”, “Here I Am Lord”, “Amazing Grace”, “Song of Farewell” and “I Am the Bread of Life”. The pallbearers were Vince Wetter, Daryl Wetter, Brett Swenson, Colby Wetter, Clayton Wetter and Connor Wetter. The honorary pallbearers were Beau Wetter and Butch Bruna. Burial was in the church cemetery. The Hanover American Legion provided Military Funeral Honors. Lloyd was born November 15, 1928, near Hanover, son of Joseph and Victoria (Smetana) Wetter. He attended the Sunny Side Country School. Lloyd served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War until he was honorably discharged. On September 23, 1957, he married Marjorie Buessing at Baileyville, KS. She preceded him in death in November 1976. Lloyd worked as a mechanic at Bruna Implement in Hanover. He served as the first Executive Director of the Highland Haven Apartments and managed the city pool. He eventually operated his own salvage yard and welding business until retirement. He enjoyed the outdoors, going fishing, coon hunting, looking for mushrooms, playing cards, listening to polka music and he loved to dance. He enjoyed making memories with his good friend, Butch, and being in the “Days of 49” parade floats together. You always knew when Lloyd was close by because you would hear his loud and unique laugh. Lloyd was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Hanover American Legion, Hanover Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the Kansas/Nebraska Coon Hunters Association. Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marjorie; son, Dale Wetter; grandson, Cory Wetter; two brothers, Joseph Wetter and Ray Wetter; and three sisters, Gertrude Kramer, Marie Doebele and Dorothy Bruna. Survivors include four sons, Kenneth (Ruth) Wetter, Marysville, Jerry (Lori) Wetter, Salina, KS, Roger (Donna) Wetter, St. Louis, MO, and David (Amanda) Wetter, Randolph, KS; one daughter, Karla (Kevin) Swenson, Clay Center, KS; two sisters, Irene Wise, California, and Barb Cheney, Kansas City; ten grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
