LoAllen L. Obermeyer

June 29, 1936 — March 4, 2019

LoAllen L. Obermeyer, 82, of Oketo, Kan., died March 4, 2019 at Community Memorial Healthcare in Marysville. Visitation was Friday, from 2 to 9 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary.  The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 9, at the Evangelical United Church of Christ in Marysville.  Rev. Julie Shields officiated.  Deb Bruna played the organ while Mandy Cook sang “Light of the World” and “The Lord’s Prayer”. The pallbearers were Drew Obermeyer, Caleb Obermeyer, Jeremy Fajen, Gregory Metz, Michael Meadows and Cameron Knox. The honorary pallbearers were Nicole Fajen, Mallory Metz, Mandy Meadows and Christa Obermeyer. Burial was in the Marysville City Cemetery. LoAllen was born June 29, 1936 south of Home, Kan. to Lloyd and Geneva (Breunsbach) Reinhardt.  In 1954, she graduated from Marysville High School. On July 7, 1957, she was united in marriage to Kent Obermeyer at the Evangelical United Church of Christ in Marysville.  They moved to the farm east of Oketo.  They were married for 61 years. LoAllen was a homemaker and a partner in the farming and dairy.  She worked part-time at the Oketo Post Office.  She was a member of the Evangelical United Church of Christ where she served on the church council.  She helped organize the soup day at the church and served as chairman for many years. She and Kent were awarded the Bankers Award for Soil Conservation in 1971, Goodyear Award for Soil Conservation in 1975, Marshall County Fair Volunteer of the Year Award, Marshall County 4-H Family of the Year and Marshall County Historical Society 100 Year Farm Award.  She was a member of the Midway Extension Unit, Cross Trailers Square Dance Club, Oketo Museum Board, RSVP, Marshall County Historical Society and Home City Hustlers 4-H Club.  She was a long-time project leader for the Balderson Boosters 4-H Club.  She loved to quilt and belonged to the EUCC Quilters and Quilt Lovers Guild.  She made many quilts and wall-hangings through the years. She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband, Kent; children, Kurt (Margaret) Obermeyer, Oketo, Keli (Roy) Yungeberg, Waterville, and Kris Obermeyer, Fairbury, Neb.; brothers, Richard Reinhardt and Larry Reinhardt, both of Marysville; sister-in-law, Fern Obermeyer, Marysville; and six grandchildren, five great grandchildren and four step great grandchildren. A memorial fund has been established to the Evangelical United Church of Christ.  Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
