Lonny Martin Jones, 83, of Marysville, KS, passed away December 29, 2022 at Community Memorial Healthcare in Marysville. A Celebration of Life will be held from 2-4 p.m. at the Marysville Country Club on Saturday, January 7, 2023 with military honors being held at 3 p.m. Please join the family in sharing some food, drinks and memories of Lonny. Lonny was born November 19, 1939 in Frankfort to Silva and Helen (Rogers) Jones. He graduated from Vermillion High School in 1957. He enlisted in the Marines and was honorably discharged in 1962 and attended Baker University for two years. Lonny started out running a grain elevator with his father for Jones Grain in Garnett, KS. He then returned home and farmed for forty years. Lonny also worked at Tyler Martin Co., Marysville Livestock Inc. and the Washington Livestock Market. After his retirement from farming he worked for Landoll’s. Lonny was a member of the United Methodist Church in Marysville. He belonged to the Masonic Lodge and served as Headmaster for several years at the Beattie Lodge. He earned his 50-year pin. He was also a Shriner. Lonny was a true Christian and would pray each night before bed and recently read the Bible every day. He enjoyed all activities with his family and was an avid reader. James Patterson was his favorite author. His love for cooking was to make mustard pickled eggs, his favorite, and had several people wanting him to make eggs for them. He always cleaned the kitchen up after himself when he cooked. Lonny was united in marriage to Carolyn Jean Wanklyn on June 2, 1963 in Marysville. They were blessed with three children, Jansy, Jennifer and Andy. Preceding him in death were his parents; and grandson, Dillon Capps. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn; children, Jansy (Scott) Wentzel, Rockwall, TX, Jennifer (Vance Kelley) Jones, Lake Wabaunsee, KS, and Andy Jones, Edmond, OK; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren; brother, Jerry (Kathleen) Jones, Salina; and his puppy, Maddie Jo, his pride and joy. A memorial fund is established and will be designated to the Wounded Warriors Project. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary, Marysville, KS.
