Margaret Polson, 96, Beattie, died Monday, March 11, 2024, at Cambridge Place in Marysville.
Visitation was Friday, March 15 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m.
A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 16 at the Beattie United Methodist Church with Pastors Serene Samuel and Janelle Knowles officiating.
Pallbearers were Scott Rueger, Jason Rueger, Josh Polson, Jeff Polson, Derick Hargrave, Nick Hargrave, Kyle Dorn, Anthony Flores, Kurtis Geisler, Brian Kain and Steve Ward.
Burial was in Beattie Union Cemetery.
Margaret was born November 20, 1927, to Enoch and Emma (Wanklyn) Hurtie. In 1945, she graduated from Frankfort High School. In her younger years, Margaret worked for the telephone office in Vliets, Litels Drug Store in Frankfort and several years as a housekeeper at the Surf Motel.
On December 7, 1946, she was united in marriage to Lyle L. Polson in Frankfort. Margaret was a member of the Beattie United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women, serving in several offices. She belonged to the Beattie Legion Auxiliary, Women of the Moose, the Jayhawker Club, Beattie PRIDE and a square dance club. Margaret enjoyed playing cards, quilting and serving refreshments to the Pony Express Reenactment riders at the Guitard Station which was located on their property.
Preceding her in death were her parents; and husband, Lyle; sister, Barbara Mills and twin sister, Mary Grable; and great granddaughter, Sawyer Polson.
Survivors include children, Linda (John) Rueger, Beattie, Larry (Helen) Polson, Beattie, Debbie (Steve) Hargrave, Randolph, KS, and Dianne (Ron) Holst, Odell, NE, twelve grandchildren, Amy (Brian) Kain, Scott (Tracy) Rueger, Jason (Lauren) Rueger, Jamie Grado, Heather (Steve) Ward, Josh (Jenny) Polson, Jeff (Shelly) Polson, Derick (Ashlie) Hargrave, Melissa (Kurtis) Geisler, Nick (Tara Fountain) Hargrave, Andrea (Kyle) Dorn, and Jackie (Anthony) Flores and great-grandchildren, Lexi and Taylor Rueger, Colette and Owen Rueger, Payton, Sophia, Cassidy and Zachary Polson, Easton and Penelope Grado, Teagan and Jack Ward, Noah, Isabella, Otto and Dylan Polson, Carter and Kemper Hargrave, Cody and Hailey Geisler, Deighton and Dempsey Dorn and Maya and Madilynn Flores.
A memorial fund has been established and all donations will go towards benefiting the Beattie community. Contributions may be made to the Margaret Polson Memorial Fund and may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
