Marilyn R. Heiserman, 85, of Marysville, KS, passed away September 2, 2022, at Blue Valley Senior Living in Blue Rapids, KS. A visitation was held from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, September 11, at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. Tributes were shared at 3 p.m. during the visitation. Marilyn was born on July 28, 1937 to Arthur “Duke” and Myrtle Irene (Minger) Cooper in Marysville. She attended Lincoln Grade School and graduated from Marysville High School in 1955. On June 5, 1955, Marilyn was united in marriage to LeRoy Heiserman in Marysville. To this union three children were born, Bret, Sherie and Larry. Marilyn worked for Bankers Life in Wichita, Arlin Music Store, United Dairy Ice Cream, and as a teacher’s aide for the Oketo Schools. She cleaned homes, was a 4H leader in cooking, and worked four years at the Oketo Bank. She was a member of the First Christian Church and served as a Deacon. She belonged to the Marshall County Historical Society, RSVP and HDU Club. Marilyn collected Kewpie dolls, liked working on genealogy, reading, playing cards and board games and traveling. She enjoyed visiting historic sites around Kansas. They would camp at Milford with her brother and sister-in-law. Marilyn loved decorating for every holiday and had holiday dinnerware that “had” to be used for family holiday meals. She loved making Halloween buckets. As there were so few trick or treaters in Oketo, she would make buckets of candy, juice boxes and trinkets for each child she knew in Oketo. One of her fondest memories was of her first-grade teacher, Miss Poppen. She said “Marilyn is a fun sweet girl that talks too much.” Preceding her in death were her parents and brother, Richard Cooper. Survivors include, husband, LeRoy; children, Bret (Janelle) Heiserman, Alexandria, NE, Sherie (Tom Taul) Taylor, Manhattan, and Larry Dean Heiserman, Oketo; and sister, Nancy (Del) Meyer, South Bend, IN; grandchildren, Eric (Karey) Heiserman, Brian (Emily) Heiserman, Jake (Ally) Heiserman; great grandchildren, Kate Heiserman, Sadie Heiserman and Hank Heiserman.
