Marjorie Maxine (Shell) Crawford, 92, of Frankfort, KS, died November 19, 2020, at the Community Hospital at Onaga, KS. Graveside services will be held later in the Vermillion Cemetery. Marjorie was born September 18, 1928, on a farm west of Vermillion, KS, daughter of Everett and Della Isaman Shell. At the age of 4 years, she and her parents moved to a farm south of Frankfort. She attended Flagg district 101 country school, and finished grade school and high school in Frankfort, graduating high school in 1946. Marjorie was a member of the Frankfort and Vermillion Methodist churches. She was a member of many area clubs and organizations including Eastern Star, Vermillion Lions Club, Vermillion Community club, Vermillion Rodeo Assn, and their local card club. She had a love of gardening, cooking, raising chickens, and other livestock. There was not anything that her kids hunted and brought home that she would not cook. If you showed up at the house at mealtime you were expected to eat with us, and she never took no for an answer. She was also known far and wide for her back rubs. She was always ready and willing to help a neighbor. But some of her most favorite pastimes and hobbies were fishing, mushroom hunting, back road cruising, genealogy work, and visiting cemeteries. Some of her most cherished memories included doing things with her family. She cherished her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. On April 17, 1949, Marjorie married Virgil M. Crawford, at her parents’ home in Frankfort, Kansas. They lived on the family farm east of Vermillion, Kansas for 45 years. She worked side by side with Virgil and his father on the family farm. They moved to Frankfort, Kansas 1994. Virgil and Marjorie celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on April 17, 1999. Marjorie also worked at the Frankfort Care home and retired from there after 17 years. Marjorie and Virgil had four children: David L, Carol A, Dennis D, and Nancy J. Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Virgil; son, David L.; and two sisters, Pauline and Nyla. Leaving to morn her are her daughter-in-law, Alice Burton Crawford, Frankfort, and her children: Michelle (Todd) Oehm, Marysville, KS, and children Haley, Catalina, and Gauge; Derek (Tara) Crawford, Marysville, and children Braxton and Kynsley; Jolene (David) Wessel, Frankfort, and children Sadie, Amelia, and Dawson; Lisa (Chad) Gordine, Salina, KS, and children Kaylor, Kaytryn and Lockryn; daughter, Carol McKinney, Frankfort; son, Dennis (Raunnie) Crawford, Wheaton, KS; and daughter, Nancy (Greg) Nickelson, Vermillion, and children, Megan Bloedorn (Chris Haug), Vermillion, KS, and children, Raelynn and Alana; Nastassja (Dustin) Key, Ellis, KS, and children, Arista and Aiden; Logan Nickelson.
