(L.V.) Lally, a railroader who ventured to Marysville on the U.P. train. Their union welcomed five children and started their life together in Kansas City, MO.  While in Kansas City she worked various jobs, usually cooking in some variety.  In 1971, they moved to Marysville to be closer to her family.  She raised her kids, and her door was always open to her grandkids, nieces, and nephews.  In 1984, they purchased the Redwood Motel in Marysville and operated it until 1993, during which she also worked at the bakery in Boogarts Grocery Store and helped her husband with his gun shop.  In 2001, she became the “lunch lady” for St. Gregory’s school.  She loved preparing for and serving the children, but even more the hugs and love she got from them all!  Health problems required her to leave her job, but she still held in her heart all the kids she served for all the years she was there. The three most import things to her were her family, her faith, and creating things.   She loved her family more than life itself.  She was always there for them and would have given her life for any of them.  She loved the Lord, and her Catholic faith.  She carried around her rosary often, and even started a rosary prayer service during her time at Cambridge.  She loved to create things.  Painting was her passion, however she also sewed, cross-stitched, rug-hooked, and cooking/baking.  Her family is grateful for the constant reminder of her thru the items she created, and knowing she spent her years doing things she truly enjoyed.Welcoming her into the heavenly gates are her parents; husband; son, Lawrence Michael Lally; grandson, Ryan Behrens; sisters, Mildred Damman, Sophia Niemeier, and Evelyn Taylor; and brother, Wilfred Ruhkamp. She will be missed everyday by her daughters, Colleen (Fred) Behrens and Michelle Wassenberg, both of Marysville, and Shauna (Robert) Engelken, Seneca, Kan.; son, Terry (Jayne) Lally, Fairfield, Neb.; by “Grandma’s Angels” - her nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren: Amy Behrens, Chris Shubkagel, Kristie Lally, Eric (Ashley) Shubkagel, Kara (Nick) Chavez, Melissa (R.J.) O’Donnell, Matt, Mitch and Will Engelken: Jerret, Bryant, and Marrah Hynek, Haidyn and Sawyer Shubkagel, Solana Chavez, Ryanne O’Donnell and Drake Lally; and nieces, nephews and friends.A memorial fund has been established to Meadowlark Hospice, who provided the utmost loving care to her and our family, making it easier for us even though our hearts were breaking.  Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
