MaryAnn Bohning, 93, of Camdenton, MO, passed away peacefully with her family along her side February 3, 2024, at her home.
Visitation will be Thursday, February 15, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hanover Mortuary. A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m., February 15, at the Hanover Cemetery.
MaryAnn was born October 1, 1930, on the family farm near Hanover, Kansas. She was the daughter of Henry and Anna (Rohlfs) Loges.
She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Hanover, Kansas. On June 2, 1951, she married SSGT Jay Robert Bohning at the church.
They lived in Mississippi, Kansas, North Carolina, South Carolina, New Jersey and Kwajalein, Marshall Islands. They retired in Camdenton, Missouri in 1993.
MaryAnn taught in one room country schools outside of Hanover and Marysville (1948-1951) while attending Kansas State College in the summers for renewal of her teacher certification. She worked for the Federal Civil Service at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi (1951 – 1952) as a clerk for the dental clinic, processing records for personnel slated for overseas during the Korean War. MaryAnn also worked briefly for St. Joseph Hospital in Topeka, Kansas and then in Civil Service again at Forbes Supply Depot as a personnel clerk handling classified correspondence (1952- 1953). From 1954 to 1957 she worked as a Civil Service clerk-typist at Signal Repair Shop in Fort Riley, Kansas.
MaryAnn was the mother of three children and raised their family in many homes. After the children grew up, she went to work at Bell Labs in the early 1980’s as a clerical and secretarial assistant. She retired from AT&T/NCR in 1992.
In 1992 after being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis she remained under the unwavering care of her dear husband, Jay.
Survivors include her husband, Jay of Camdenton; two sons, Gregg (wife Melaine) Bohning of Camdenton, MO; Gary Bohning of Green Acres, Florida; one daughter Sondra (husband Greg) Pollack of Camdenton, MO; three grandsons, Justin (wife Melissa) Bohning of Castle Rock, CO; Nathan (wife Laura Valente) Bohning of St. John, USVI; Derick Pollack (fiancé Lily Eremita) of Somerville, MA, and one granddaughter Michelle Bohning of Orlando, Florida; sister in law, Margaret Bohning of Phoenix, Arizona; great grandchildren River, Sonnie, Fisher, Luca and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Mildred (Loges) Lohmeyer (husband Art.
Lohmeyer), brothers Orville Loges (wife Irma Loges) and Elmer Loges (wife Eileen Loges), brother-in-law Frank Bohning (wife Judy Bohning), sister-in-law Doris Bohning, two nephews Michael Loges and Gordon Loges and a niece Amanda Dodd-Anderson.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the donor’s favorite charity. Contributions may be sent in care of the Hanover Mortuary.
