Maxine D. Reynolds, 91, of Marysville, KS, died February 12, 2023, at Cambridge Place in Marysville. Visitation was Thursday, February 16, from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary. The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 17, at the Marysville United Methodist Church. Rev. Insung Kim officiated. Rachel Bena played the organ while Wayne Kruse sang "Because He Lives" and "He Touched Me." The pallbearers were Tim Downard, Brian Downard, Brad Downard, Larry Downard, Dan Reynolds and Charlie Oehm. Burial was in the Marysville City Cemetery. Maxine was born on January 4, 1932 in rural Marshall County (Walnut Township) to Harold and Eva (Hanson) Downard. In 1950, she graduated from Marysville High School. On October 28, 1950, she was united in marriage to Duane Reynolds in Marysville. Maxine was employed with Perry Packing until 1956, when she and her husband then moved to Boulder, CO. In 1964, they returned to Marysville and opened Dewey’s Specialty TV Repair. She later worked for Downard’s Food Mart for twenty-five years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Dorcas Circle, Ladies of the Moose, Marysville Eagles and RSVP. She enjoyed doing volunteer work for RSVP and helping with the blood mobile. Maxine liked helping with the children’s bible school in the summers and with funeral dinners at the church. Maxine enjoyed cooking and sharing with her family, friends and neighbors. She played cards and enjoyed sports of all kinds. Maxine was a big sports fan of Marysville High School, Kansas State University and the Kansas City Royals. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Duane on November 26, 2007; brothers, Gordon “Pinky” Downard and Leland “Sam” Downard; and nieces, Susan Flanagan Reynolds and Judy Hartsook. Survivors include her sisters-in-law, Donna Downard and Carol Downard; and nieces and nephews, Tim Downard, Brian (Cathy) Downard, Brad Downard, Larry (Michelle) Downard, Dan Reynolds, Ruth (Charlie) Oehm, Leroy (Sharon) Reynolds, Tom (Annilisa) Reynolds, Bob (Deb) Reynolds, Wayne (Michelle) Reynolds and Linda Lewis Reynolds; and many great nieces and nephews. A memorial fund has been established to the Marysville United Methodist Church or Meadowlark Hospice. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
