Maxine Elaine Sampson, 79, of Marysville, Kan., died Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at her home. A Celebration of Life for both David and Maxine will be held Tuesday, June 4, from 5 to 7 p.m. at their home located at 600 South 15th St., Marysville. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 5 in the Steele City Cemetery, Steele City, Neb. Maxine was born June 1, 1939 at Fairbury, Neb., To William and Opal (Hodges) Rudkins. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Peru State College in Peru, Neb. She began her teaching career in a one room schoolhouse. She then taught kindergarten in Marysville for many years. Maxine loved working with the kids. On March 28, 1959, she was united in marriage to David Sampson at the Presbyterian Church in Steele City. To this union two daughters were born, Lisa and Jill. Maxine enjoyed having her family around and hosting holiday events. She always made sure everyone was full and never left anyone out, all were welcome at her table. She enjoyed laughing and being with family. She especially enjoyed rides in the country and sitting in the porch swing with her beloved, David. She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, David in 2016. Survivors include daughters Lisa (Dennis) Baumgartner, Sabetha, Kan., and Jill (Christopher) Choate, Durango, Colo.; and four grandchildren, Katelyn Baumgartner, Taylor Baumgartner, Sam Choate and Claire Choate. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
